Request assistance by calling Police Dispatch at 831-459-2100
Campus Safety Ambassadors (CSAs) collaborate with Santa Cruz Fire, university support services, University Police, and the administration of university residential communities, including the Westside Research Park, Coastal Science Campus, Mount Hamilton/Lick Observatory, and the Silicon Valley Extension Campus. Their primary objective is to ensure a safe and secure living and working environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
Services provided by Campus Safety Ambassadors include:
- Assistance with lockouts (limited to entry into the main residential hall)
- Securing buildings
- Providing first aid
- Assisting with documenting policy violations
- Reporting maintenance concerns
- Assisting with calls for fire, medical, or crisis assistance
- Traffic control as needed
- Conducting high-visibility community patrols
- Responding to service calls in coordination with UCSC PD Dispatch
- Reporting criminal activity
- Providing security for special events
Due to staffing limitations, CSAs are currently assigned exclusively to Westside Research Park/Coastal Sciences Campus. Requests for services outside of this location or beyond standard hours are considered overtime. Departments requesting CSA support at other locations or for events must cover the associated overtime costs.
